2006 – Present. Scaftec Ltd– Scaffolding Design Consultants.
Scaffold Design Engineer:
- From June 2006 to June 2012 Gary worked within the company during college & university holidays, assisting experienced engineers in the preparations of a variety of designs. After completion of MEng was offered a full time position with Scaftec. Gary’s current full time post began in July 2012.
- Responsible for the design of various scaffolding projects, along with the preparation of associated calculations and detailed construction drawings. Projects vary in complexity from general access scaffolds to larger bridged and cantilevered accesses. Site visits to collect information & discuss client requirements. Final scaffold inspections to ensure compliance with design drawings.
- Familiar with traditional scaffold tube and fitting structures and the majority of system scaffolds, along with the modern modular systems.
Designs take in all types of scaffolding structures from standard access scaffolding to support platforms and shoring applications.
- Regular use of many computer packages including; AutoCAD to prepare detailed drawings, P-Frame and S-Frame to analyse complex temporary roof and structures and use of Microsoft office software to produce calculations. Have university experience using PLAXIS and GeoSlope along with other analytical computer packages.
Gary is currently working towards Chartered Engineer status with the ICE.
