After graduating from High school, Jack joined RMD Kwikform as an apprentice temporary works designer. Whilst at RMD, Jack also completed a HNC in civil engineering as a day release student at Glasgow kelvin college, Springburn. Jack studied his 1st year BEng Hons in civil engineering at the University of the West of Scotland, Paisley Campus. Jack will continue his studies at the beginning of the next learning year.
Main duties within the workplace are as follows:
Since joining Scaftec, jack has been learning to become more efficient in drafting various system scaffolds such as Cuplok, Kwikstage and Layher as well as the conventional tube and fitting scaffolds.
Responsible for aiding the lead engineer in preparation of calculations and detailed construction drawings in accordance with the relevant guidelines, standards and users manuals.
Responsible for producing various different types of designs from simple house type arrangements to more complex beam and cantilevered designs.
Jack is knowledgeable in the use of various computer packages such as AutoCAD, Microsoft word/excel.
Responsible for assisting senior engineers on site visits to lease with clients, inspect scaffolds and survey the sites.
Responsible for assisting senior engineers with preparation for various designs.
Other responsibilities include administrative hard and electronic filing.
Being the client’s first point of contact and directing them to the appropriate engineer.
